#7: Laura Storm on Creating Social Movements

My guest today is Laura Storm, an experienced thought-leader and international keynote speaker. Laura is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum, where she supports their work as an expert in sustainable development and climate change and co-founder of The Regenerators.

Laura has led or co-founded a number of sustainability-focused organisations including the Copenhagen Climate Council, the World Business Summit on Climate Change, Project Green Light, and Sustainia. Under Laura’s leadership, Sustainia became a global mega-brand within sustainability with an outreach to more than 170 million people and the world’s largest database of 4,000 proven sustainable solutions.

I spoke to Laura online from her home in Copenhagen. In a wide ranging conversation, we spoke about committing to nature as child by buying a piece of rainforest, the importance of exciting hope-based narratives, serendipity and how to exploit it, how it helps to not get starstruck if you want to build a social movement, reconciling leadership with being an extreme introvert, collaboration trumping competition and the promise of a living systems-based heightened consciousness.
